Clinics

The Practice offers a number of additional services and appointments may be made through the Receptionists.

Asthma Clinic

The emphasis of these clinics is a better education, monitoring of peak flow, management plans, checking inhaler technique etc. It is advisable that all asthmatics have annual assessments. Complete an Asthma Review Questionnaire

Diabetic clinic

At these sessions urine, blood pressure and circulation will be checked and you will be given the opportunity to discuss the control, management and monitoring of diabetes.

Family Planning and Contraception

We provide a comprehensive and confidential Family Planning service and those patients who prefer to discuss contraception with a lady Doctor may do so.  There is no Family Planning Clinic at Teignmouth Hospital anymore.  Please contact Family Planning at Castle Circus Health Centre, Torquay for appointments:  01803-656500.

Free Chlamydia Screening

Young men and women aged 16-24 are eligible for a free Chlamydia test. There is a national campaign to find and treat this disease which can lead to infertility. Sometimes it will cause pain and discomfort in men and women but at other times it is ‘silent’. You may not know you have it – so get tested!

Young people who would like to undertake a self-test should book an appointment at reception to see Nicola or Julie. A specialist health-worker looks at all the results and makes contact with everyone to let them know whether they are positive or negative. Anyone testing positive will be offered free treatment.

Minor Surgery

Common procedures include removal of troublesome cysts and moles, cauterisation and a wide range of joint injections.

Stop smoking clinics

The surgery no longer offers a Stop Smoking clinic, your local pharmacy may offer a stop smoking service, or a clinic is held at Newton Abbot Hospital.

For more information or to find out where you nearest clinic is call 0300 456 1006

Travel Vaccinations

Available by appointment with the Practice Nurse, appointments should be made at least 8 weeks prior to travel if possible. Most vaccinations are free, however a charge is payable for some; the Practice Nurse will advise you which injections are required and whether there is a charge.

Child Immunisations

It is important your child is properly immunised. The Practice offers a comprehensive immunisation programme and parents are automatically informed when their child is due for the next injection.

Child Health Clinics

These are held at the Sure Start Activity Centre, Mill Lane, Teignmouth (next to the hospital) on 1st and 3rd Thursdays of each  month from 1pm – 3pm.

Audiology

Audiology Clinics are usually held at Torbay Hospital on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday by appointment only:  01803-656325.  Patients can leave aids for repair during these clinics.  Open repair sessions are run on Tuesdays from 9-12 noon, Thursdays from 1.45 – 4pm and Fridays from 9-12 noon.

Carers Checks

We now provide free health checks for Carers.  If you would like to have a Carers Check please speak to Reception who will pass your details on to the relevant team member, they will then contact you to arrange an appointment.

We hold a monthly Carers group on the last Wednesday of the month at Bitton Park House from 2pm – 4pm.  The group is very friendly and offers a break from your caring in a relaxed and supportive environment.
